abstract

Marketing of library services has now been recognized as an essential agenda in all kind of libraries all over the world. There are many different thoughts and viewpoints. This volume brings the whole scattered store of knowledge under one heading and is a treasure on LIS marketing from 47 experts, educators and practitioners from 20 countries, through 40 contributions broadly divided into six sections (marketing concept: a changing perspective; marketing in libraries around the world; role of library associations; education, training and research; excellence in marketing; databases and other marketing literature).


It recognizes that marketing roots are deepening into library and information services; indicates the stage of LIS marketing at the international level; makes out a pool of the best practices in LIS marketing; and opens up yet another ground for thought provocation and thought stimulation for the future.


The book shall prove helpful for both working librarians and future librarians to understand vital issues relating to marketing of library and information services at the local, national and international level.
